CHAPMAN On May 17, 2007 Lavon Ruth (Bassett) Chapman passed away peacefully at Overlander Peach Lane, Kamloops, B.C. at the age of 83 years. Born December 23, 1923 to Edward and Ruth (Hartman) Sorenson at home in East Poplar Sask. She lived in Scobey Montana where she met and married Ken Bassett in 1941 then moved back to Canada where they had a farm. In 1955 they moved their family to B.C. and lived in various places and finally settled in Merritt, B.C. After Dad's death in 1965, she met and married Elmer but after a short time they went their separate way. They remained best friends. They did a lot of traveling in B.C. and down in the U.S.A. She is survived by her loving family Ruth (Mike) Mayr, Loretta (Raymond) Phillips, Victor (Pat) Bassett, Delvin (Donna) Bassett, Kathy Bassett (Bob Christensen), Ken (Sally) Bassett, Gordon Bassett (Sandra Puchalski), Brenda (Don) Wilson, Ricky (Cindy) Bassett, Step Children Eric (Sherry) Chapman, Dolly (Alvin), Jackie Ryde. She had numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Granchildren (There was 5 generations in her family). She is also Survived by her 1 sister Joyce Campbell of Lakewood, Calif, 1 brother Norman (Ellen) Sorenson of Morgan Hill, Calif. Predeceased by her Mother, Father,1st husband Ken Bassett, baby son Randall, 2nd husband Elmer Chapman, brothers Lloyd, LeRoy, Donald, Delmas and Leslie Sorenson, Grandson's Twins Teddy, Freddy, David LaBine, 2 Great Granddaughters Stara-Michele Phillips and Angela Lavon LaBine. A casual gathering with family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 12:30p.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery at Roe Lake, B.C. The family would like to thank all who cared for her at Overlander, she loved all of you.
