October 8, 1926 - March 21, 2012. Age 86 years. Passed peacefully away in the comfort of his home in Renews on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents, Richard & Ellen (Berrigan), one sister Pauline Dunne (Pat) & special aunt Molly Gearin (Leo). Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 59 years, Angela (Kavanagh) Chidley; his children: Gerard (Ann), Leroy (Bev), Clarence, Jim (Evelyn), Paula (Paul), David (Teresa), Paul (Rosie), Diane (Andy); his grandchildren: Linda, Gerry, Wendy, Valerie, Kenedi, Carl, Colin, Tyler, Lenny, Christopher, Darcy, Darnell, Nathan, Brittany, Shannon, Stacy, Sherri, Cassandra, Daniel; his great-grandchildren: Abigail, Liam, Luke, Alexa, Caleb, Logan, Peyton, Jaden, Clover; two brothers: Eddie (Sheila), Phil (Rosemary); one sister, Bell (Jim). Remembered by his special friends, Heather Chidley, Mike Hartery Jeannie Boland, Cathy Hopkins, Yvonne Pilon, Sheila & Shondra. and Ethna Guiney. James, "Pops" as he was so fondly called was President of the Seniors Club in Renews for many years. He served as Lighthouse Keeper for 39 years on Bear Cove Point. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, NL Region. Remains resting at Fahey's Funeral Home, Fermeuse. Visitation on Thursday, March 22, from 6-9 p.m. & Friday, March 23 from 2-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. from Holy Apostles Church, Renews.
