Elva Saunders

SAUNDERS, ELVA MARY - Elva Mary Saunders of Gondola Point went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2012 from her home where she lived and was lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Norman Raynes. Elva was born in March of 1921 in Hoyt (Wirral, NB). She was the daughter of the late Manson and Myrtle Kirkpatrick. She was predeceased by her husband George H. Saunders; brothers Charles, Earl and Lee Kirkpatrick; sisters Gladys Oram, Ila King and Joan MacFawn. She was a charter member of the Calvary Temple Church where in her earlier years she was very active in convening the meals for church conventions. Elva knew how to gather together a large team to work for special occasions with joy and unity. She was a faithful supporter of family and friends and her church. She loved to travel and entertain and was a wonderful cook, her rolls and biscuits were almost famous. The folks, who have had a chance to know her, loved her. She will be forever loved and missed by her only daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Norman Raynes of Gondola Point, Quispamsis; grandchildren Anthony Raynes and Rosalyn Raynes O’Neill (John) of Vero Beach, FL; great grandchildren Benjamin and Jaden Raynes, Kylie, Samuel, and Elijah O’Neill; brother Roy (Janet) Kirkpatrick of Oakville, ON; sister Helen Cameron of Saint John; brothers- in- law Osborne King of Coburg, ON and Harry MacFawn of Lakeland, FL; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Saturday March 24th, 2012 from 2 to 9 p.m. A homegoing celebration of her life, will be held on Sunday March 25th (which would have been her 91st birthday) from Calvary Temple Church at 1:30 p.m. Immediately following the service a reception will be held in the fellowship hall at Calvary Temple Church followed by the burial at Rothesay Baptist Cemetery, Gondola Point. Donations in Elva’s memory made to Calvary Temple Church, Alzheimer’s Association, KV Valley Extra Mural or to the charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
