CHILDS, WILLIAM JOSEPH "JOE"- It is with great sadness the family of Joe Childs announce his death which occurred March 23, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born January of 1938 in Saint John, to the late Vincent and Florence (Belmont) Childs. Joe was a baker and worked with his father in his earlier years in the family business “Childs Bakery” later devoting his career to Dominion Stores in Saint John. He was a devoted husband, father, grampy, great-grampy, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, collecting newspaper clippings of important events and playing his guitar. He will be loved and missed by those who knew him. Joe is survived by his sons Daniel (Wanda) of Public Landing, Corey (Patty) and Bret (Lynn) both of Saint John; daughter Karalee Hopey (Peter) of Saint John; precious grandchildren Jessica, Christopher, Jillian, Evan, and Ethan; great grandson Kai; brothers Donald (Diane), Douglas (Betty) and Richard (Heather) all of Saint John; nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Geraldine, twin brother Gerald and older brother Robert.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday, March 25th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Celebration of Life service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 26th at 1:30 pm. Donations in Joe`s memory may be made to the charity of donor`s choice.
