We regret to announce the passing of John Robert Burns of Glace Bay on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his children.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, he was a son of the late Patrick Joseph and Victoria (Collins) Burns.
Bobby first worked with the S&L Railway before transferring to Devco until his retirement. Bobby was totally dedicated to his wife and family; and he shared his unique sense of humour with everyone he met.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 44 years, Emelda (nee Gracie); daughter, Terri (Robert) Leyte; sons, Patrick (Kelly), Blair (Lorrie) and Jamie (Alicia); grandchildren, Shelby, Daniel, Robert Jr., Gregory, Ashley, Caitlyn, Breton, Brydan, Dakota, Tarran, Zackery, Dawson, Jessica and Caylee; brother, Pat (Kay); many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his eldest son, Bobby Jr., brothers, Jimmie and George, sisters, Gladys, Winnie and Margie.
Visitation today (Monday) 2-4 and 7-9pm in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main Street, Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday 11am in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Dan Boudreau officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Bobby’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
