Catherine Claire Grant, R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the nursing home.
Born on July 31, 1923 in Heatherton, Antigonish County, Claire was the daughter of the late D. W. and Margaret (MacDonald) Grant.
Educated in Halifax and Montreal, Claire was a gifted artist and teacher who travelled the world. She was a talented and independent lady. Upon retirement, she returned to Antigonish and resided at 158 St. Ninian St., where she was able to hone her gardening skills. She later resided at Highland Crest Home and most recently at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home.
Claire is survived by sisters, Anna Robertson, Toronto, Sr. Faustina Grant, CND, Antigonish and Sydney; brothers, Duncan J., Ottawa, and Barry (Wilma), Campbell River, B.C.; sister-in-law, Jean Grant; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Claire was predeceased by siblings, Flora, Mary, Isabel, Winnie, Bennie, Rory and Daniel (in infancy).
Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of the Inverness Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date under the direction of MacIsaacs Funeral Home, Antigonish, with burial in the Heatherton Parish Cemetery.
Memorial donations made be made to the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home or charity of your choice.
