MARNEY, MILDRED VICTORIA - Mildred Victoria Marney passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born 1922 in Tottenham, England she was the only child of the late Herbert G. and Mercy (Wilton) Groom. She was also predeceased by her husband Ralph E. Marney. Mildred worked in a war factory in England. She was a war bride and arrived at Pier 21, Halifax in 1945, lived in Saint John and worked at Sears and Woolco. She was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, Senior Citizens Clubs: Stone Church, Rothesay Baptist, Edith Avenue and Forest Hills Baptist; Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 69. Mildred and Ralph owned and operated Bayside Grill for several years. Mildred and Ralph enjoyed spending their summers at their cottage on Sebago Lake, Maine. She is survived by her loving daughters Doreen Carson (Rev. Gene) of PEI, Patricia Stilwell (Wayne) of Saint John, Faith Cyr (Art) of Kingston Peninsula and Barbara Dixon (Andrew) of Rothesay; cherished grandchildren Wendy Johnson, Dwayne Stilwell (Carla), Sheri Dyke (Paul), Vance Cyr of Edmonton, AB, Tracy Comeau (Jason), Gerrod Carson (Danielle) of Waltham, Mass, Angie Marr (Darcy), Brittany Dixon of Townsville, Australia and Garrett Dixon; 12 great grandchildren; best friend Amy Hemmings of Ramsgate, England; honorary daughter Susie Anderson (Guy) of Naples, Maine; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Sunday April 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church on Monday, April 2 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
