THOMPSON, JOYCE ANN – It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joyce Ann Thompson of Saint John, wife of Walter M. Thompson which occurred on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on August 4, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Percy and Marjorie (Graham) Williams. Joyce retired form Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing as a Nurses Aid. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 Ladies Auxiliary receiving her 50 year pin just 2 weeks ago. Joyce loved crossword puzzles, knitting, shopping and spending time travelling and going on cruses with her husband. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Walter; sons, William “Bill” of Saint John and Walter “Wally” of Rothesay, NB; daughter, Judith “Judy” Thompson-Legare (Martin) of Edmonton, AB; one sister, Pat (Tom) Linton of Sussex, NB; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and sister, Isobel (Barb) Porter.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 pm. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery Field of Honor.
