It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wilbur at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, N.S. on March 30, 2012.
Born Jan. 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Daniel and Annie (Livingstone) MacRae.
Wilbur was a very private, quiet and gentle man who spent all his life in Middle River as a self-employed farmer and carpenter. He was a member and elder of Middle River United Church and held the office of treasurer for over 20 years.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gordon (Dan D.) and sisters-in-law, Edith MacLennan and Margaret (Peggy) MacKay.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Wilbur will be sadly missed by his many cousins, friends and neighbours.
At Wilbur’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. in Middle River Cemetery with Rev. Allison Etter officiating. A reception to follow in Middle River United Church.
Arrangements are under the care of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Middle River United Church or a charity of choice.
