It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stuart Ellsworth, 79, who passed away April 1, 2012, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
Born in New Haven, Victoria County, he was the son of the late George and Lucy (Petrie) Ellsworth.
He is survived by his former wife, Dorothy (MacRae) Ellsworth; daughters, Darlene, Baddeck, Joyce (Wade), Neil’s Harbour; sons, Calvin, Middle River, and Derek, Cape North. He is also survived by his brother, Ernest (Greta) Ellsworth, Stewiake; along with three nieces and two nephews. He was also blessed with six grandchildren, Erica (Ryan), Matthew (Leslie), Brittany, Christian, Jeremy, and Shyla.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter in infancy.
Stuart was an outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching hockey, baseball and golf. He was a familiar presence at Bean There Café and he enjoyed the company of his many friends.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the VCMH, the staff of home care, and to Dr. Carlyle Chow for their dedicated care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MacAskill’s Funeral Home, Baddeck. Visitation to be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, April 4 at MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck. Funeral will be held at Ephriam Scott Presbyterian Church, South Haven, Thursday, April 5 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Cameron Brett officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Society of Victoria County.
