CHARLES HUNGAR 1913 ~ 2007 We regret to announce the passing of Charles Hungar of Kamloops on August 14, 2007 at 94 years of age. He will be missed by his children, Allen (Darlene) of Kamloops, John of Victoria, Ralph (Jeanne) of Logan Lake, and Mary of Grande Prairie, Alberta; grandchildren Jason, Kimberly, Bradley, Alex, Danielle, Shannon, Karen, and Ara; great grandchildren Jo Dee, Hailey, and Benjamyn. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy on March 25, 2007. Charles was born to Austrian immigrants, Ignaz and Elizabeth Hungar, in 1913. He was born in Natal, BC, the ninth of ten children. He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II. While on leave in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Charles met Dorothy Walker. They married after the war and had four children in Milton, NS. They moved to North Kamloops in 1954 to build a home and raise their family. Charles loved the local area and became an avid fisherman. He worked as a custodian for the School Board until 1978. In retirement, Dorothy and Charlie enjoyed fishing, traveling, and gambling. Reno and Las Vegas were popular destinations. Charles liked to bowl and he also played in the local bridge club until recently. His final destination was in Pine Grove where he really enjoyed the care and companionship of the staff and residents. A Celebration of Charles' Life will be held in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 17, 2007 with Pastor Mary Widmer officiating.
