WADDELL, ELDON CLYDE - Eldon Waddell of Saint John passed away with his family at his side on April 5th, 2012 at Ridgewood Veterans Hospital. Born February of 1920 in Saint John to the late Clyde S. and Mildred R. (McEachrn) Waddell. Eldon was a WWII Veteran and was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy serving his country overseas from 1939-1945. After returning from the war he married his wife Edna Mary Jackson and they were married for almost 40 years before her death in 1984. Eldon worked for Western Star for a number of years retiring in 1984. He was a former member of St. Ann's Church in Glen Falls. Eldon is survived by children Janet Palmer (Robert), Carol Beckingham (Brian) and Clyde (Darlene) all of Saint John; brother Cecil (Joanne) of Martinon and sister Lois Kirkpatrick (Ross) of Hoyt; ten grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents and his wife Edna, he was predeceased by daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Wayne Burke; grandson Darryl Palmer, brothers Reginald, Charles, Aubrey and Donald and one sister Arlene Engalls. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. In earlier years he enjoyed fishing and hunting, in later years he enjoyed family gatherings and being at home.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitation on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Veterans Tribute to begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
