Marian Eileen Hare, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Hamilton, Ont., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family in Grande Prairie on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at the age of 64.
She was born in Hamilton, Feb. 18, 1945, to Charles and Mable Slater.
Marian raised her family in Cape Breton Island, N.S. Marian loved the outdoors. She was a lover of all nature things especially her knowledge of birds, flowers and gardening. She loved making knitted crafts for all of her children and grandchildren. She was a great competitor with all Nintendo and DS games. You could always catch her watching her favourite shows, CSI, CSI Miami and Criminal Minds. She was a loving mother, grandmother, friend, companion, wife and sister. She will be greatly missed and remembered by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley; children, Stanley, Victoria, B.C., Yvonne (Tom), New Waterford, N.S., Ken (Felicia), Brantford, Ont., Candace (Richard), Grande Prairie, Dawn (Terry), Grande Prairie, and Les, Sydney, N.S.; grandchildren, Keaton, Amanda, Fabian, Stephané, Alexander, Ashley, Brandon, Zachery, Kelsie, Brittany, Dawson, Carrissa, Taylor, Keenan and Desiree; brothers, Robert (Marilyn), David (Mary), Tom; sister, Betty Carter (Mike); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mable Slater, twin brother and sister, Teddy and Patricia, at six months, sister, Dorothy and her husband, Brian Hunter, stepparents, Melvin and Ada Ryckman.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at 7 p.m. at Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel.
