Dianne O'Day

Lieu de naissance : Glace Bay, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

Lieu de décès : Dominion, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 10 avril 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dianne Elizabeth O’Day (Burke). Surrounded with close family and friends by her side, Dianne went home to be with her Lord. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 after a long fought battle with lung cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Anne (MacDonald) Burke.
Dianne was a very loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was the type of person who put everyone else first and would do anything to help out her friends and family. She always knew what to say and how to make you feel better when you were down. Just like her mother, one of her favourite past times was bingo.
She also loved her four dogs, Joey, Mya, Molly and Amber. At one time, Dianne did security work for immigration in Montreal.
She is survived by her loving husband, Peter O’Day; her son, John (Jenn) Ioannides, Victoria, B.C.; her daughter, Ashley (Justin) O’Day; stepdaughters, Lynn (Donnie) Ferrera, Dawn (Mario) Mastro, Massachusetts; her two sisters, Eleanor (John) Hagar, Calgary, Barbara (Robert) Stefanovich, Windsor, Ont.; her two brothers, Ronnie (Honey) Burke, Whitney Pier, Joard (Cheryl) Burke, New Victoria; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; good family friends, Estelle Morrison, Edna Nearing, Margaret Brunet, Marcie McKenzie and Willena MacDonald.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Keith, Byron and Terry.
Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Father Dan Boudreau is Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Eugene’s Church, Dominion. Following the mass a reception will be held in the church basement. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date at St Anne’s Parish Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Dianne, donations in her memory may be made to Palliative Care, Cape Breton Chapter or a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences to the family can be expressed through the funeral home website: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
