GOODFELLOW It is with profound and heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Evangeline Ida Goodfellow (nee Melnick) on September 12, 2007. Evangeline (Ev as she was known) was born on November 22, 1926 in rural Saskatchewan near the village of MacNutt. Although she grew up during the depression years, she had good memories and lots of stories about her and her siblings, Rose (pd. 1998), Dave (pd. 2006) and Paul (pd. 2003). In the late 1940's she left the family farm to take her registered nurse training at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon; she was an exceptional nurse and used her skills throughout the rest of her life. She met her husband Ken (pd. 1987) shortly after she completed her training and now being an air force wife, saw alot of Canada, a country that she was always so proud to call her own. Ev and her young family settled in Kamloops in 1966. She was active at the elementary schools her children attended and always having a love for music, joined many of the community choirs in Kamloops. In her late 70's she successfully auditioned for the University College of the Cariboo Choir; she loved the challenges that the music presented and the opportunity to sing with the students. Mom loved her community and actively supported it for the 41 years that she lived in it. She quietly and generously supported many societies and groups, but her favourites were the Kamloops Food Bank, the RIH Foundation and Thompson Rivers University. Mom adored her garden, her birds and her house. She eagerly waited for the seasons to change, watching the trees turn colour or blossom and the return of her favourite birds. Her house was her sanctuary and she always knew exactly where everything was and where it should be. A woman of many talents and interests, she was a passionate reader and always knew what was going on in the world. Mom was also the extraordinary tamer of rambunctious puppies. She will be desperately missed by her three children Cheryle, John and Elizabeth, her two grandchildren Jennifer and Justine and her two great grandsons, Camden and Keyyen. She will also be deeply missed by Luvy and the rest of the clan. There will be no service at her request. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to one of her favourite groups. Thank you to Schoenings for their seamless support and assistance at this difficult time. Do not stand by my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamonds glint on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.
