Bertha May McLaughlin, Bible Hill, passed away at the Colchester Hospital on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the age of 98 surrounded by her loving family. Born in East Mines, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Tupper and May (Robertson) Reid. She enjoyed doing her daily crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble, cards and Yahtzee. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Bertha will be sadly missed by her children: son David (Shirley) Weatherby, daughters: Marion McNutt, Charlotte (Albert) Toole, Catherine Terry, Dorothy Adams and son-in-law Ronnie Totten: 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband Thomas Weatherby, second husband Roy McLaughlin, son Donald Weatherby, daughter Jean Totten, granddaughter Candis Weatherby, sisters Annie Sheedy and Ethel Reid and brother Charles Reid. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a private family funeral will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 2 pm. No visitation by request. Burial will be at Main Road Cemetery, Debert. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations may be made to Debert Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
