Lawson Joseph Corbett - 80, of South Alton, Kings County, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in South Alton, he was the son of the late William and Charlotte (Trahon) Corbett. Lawson worked at Hostess Foods, the Department of Highways and Dansart Construction. He loved gardening, his fruit trees, spending time with his grandchildren and watching birds, especially woodpeckers and hummingbirds. He is survived by a son, Joseph (Melissa) and grandchildren, Dustin, Shyane, Kelsie and Arihanna, all of Somerset; brothers, Ronald, Harold (Josie), James (Kathy) and Harvey, all of South Alton; Eric (Betty), Coldbrook; sisters, Shirley, Brooklyn Street; Hazel Shaffer and Kathleen “Kay” Shaffer, both of South Alton. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Reverend Karen Doucette and Reverend Rick Small officiating. A private family interment took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. A reception followed in the White Family Funeral Home. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Lung Association.
