Milton Porter
Milton Alexander Porter, 80, of Church St., Pictou, died suddenly April 16, 2012 in the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Bayview, he was a son of the late James and Margaret-Anne (Munroe) Porter.
As a young man Milton moved to Ontario, where he was employed with General Motors in St. Catharines. He raised his family there and returned to Pictou upon retirement. A member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Milton sang in the choir for many years. He also volunteered with the Food Bank, sang in the Rotary Club plays and enjoyed bowling. He was a loyal Toronto fan for both the Leafs and the Blue Jays.
Surviving are his wife, Mary (MacDonald); children, Patsy Anne (Brian), Peterborough; Darlene, Vancouver; Scott (Kim), Pictou; Jamie (Nancy), Kitchener; Mike (Tina), Burlington; Dan, Calgary; David, Pictou; Randy, Calgary; 16 grandchildren; siblings, Martin (Lois), Sudbury; Laura, New Glasgow; Marion, Bayview; Kenny, Braeshore; Wilbert, Dawson Creek; Peggy, Vancouver; Sadie, Vancouver; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Willa.
Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral mass will take place 11 a.m. Thursday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
