Elsie Gotell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Marie Gotell, 88 of Northumberland Hall, Amherst on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 30, 1924 in Howlan, PEI, she was a daughter of the late Oswald and Margaret (Doyle) Cain.
Elsie enjoyed the simple things in life, especially her family as well as traveling, playing golf and reading. Very independent, Elsie took on the skills of modern technology and managed her affairs until her illness.
She was a faithful parishioner and supporter of Holy Family Parish, Amherst.
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Deacon Howard (Susan) Gotell, Amherst; granddaughters, Melanie (Mike Tobin), Amherst and Nicole (Kevin) Goguen, Salisbury, NB; six great grandchildren, Shaelin, Samantha, Savannah Fage and Mattigan, Emmy-Lynn and Brennan Goguen; sister, Arlene (Robert) Powell, Saint John, NB; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Howard; sisters, Mae Rogers, Eva Creamer and Edna Cain.
Her remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home; 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Reception follows in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elsie's memory may be made to the Holy Family Parish Building Fund or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
