WIEBE - Isaac Wiebe, age 81 years, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Isaac was born on August 20, 1928, in Dunhelm, SK, to Jacob A. and Mary Wiebe, the second oldest in a family of seven. Isaac moved from Saskatchewan to Vanderhoof, BC, in 1949, where he met and married Mary Thiessen on June 28, 1953. When he first moved to Vanderhoof, he owned and operated a sawmill with his brothers, and continued in sawmilling and farming until he retired. In 1970, he purchased and moved to bare land on Highway #16, where he so enjoyed building up his own farm from nothing. In October of 1994, he moved back to his birthplace in Saskatchewan. As the family grew up and scattered, his favorite moments were when all the kids were surrounding him. He lived for those moments. All his life, he loved to travel and visit family and friends. He also greatly loved playing games with anyone interested. Isaac is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Mary; his children, Dave and Cathy Wiebe, Terrace, BC, Jake and Mary Wiebe, Vanderhoof, BC, Agnes and Pete Wiebe, DeBolt, AB, Maria and Bill Schmidt, Vanderhoof, BC, Trudi and Jake Friesen, Swift Current, SK, Philip and Carolina Wiebe, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his 15 grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; his three brothers; his three sisters; and by his step-mother. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob A. and Mary Wiebe. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at 2:00 pm from the East Side Church of God, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating. The pianist for the service was Jim Neufeld. “What a Day That Will Be”, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”, “To the River” and “I’ll Fly Away” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Gerald Schwartz. Tributes were shared by the Grandchildren as well by a PowerPoint presentation. The eulogy was brought by Maria Schmidt and Philip Wiebe. The ushers in the church were Jake Driedger and Jake Janzen. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK, with the following serving as pallbearers, Dave Wiebe, Jake Wiebe, Philip Wiebe, Pete Wiebe, Jake Friesen, Bill Schmidt and Cory Wiebe. In memory of Isaac Wiebe, donations made to the Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
