Joseph Roland Maurice "Shorty" Lecuyer, 71, Springfield, Annapolis Co, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgwater, N.S. Born in Maxville, Ont., he was the son of the late Fred and Laura Lecuyer. He was a retired veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, having served for 33 years; honorary member of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department and had a love of bluegrass music. Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Pauline Cotton; daughters, Patti (Pete) Nelson, Scotland; Carol (Ray) McKee, Dartmouth; son, Paul, Springfield; grandchildren, Gregor, Madi, Matt, Alex; brother Laurier (Madelaine) Lecuyer, Ottawa; mother-in-law Luella Cotton, Summerside, P.E.I.; brother-in-law, Bruce Cotton, Traveller's Rest, P.E.I.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, "Bud"; father-in-law, Lawson Cotton. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, Summerside, P.E.I., on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
