FRANK A. LASSER

Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada
December 14, 2009
Born in Powell River, BC, on December 14, 1925 Frank Albert Ernst Lasser lived a very full life.
He grew up in Powell River with his sister, Mart and his brothers Bob and Charlie and later baby Doug. It was in these early years when his love for the outdoors was born. He was an accomplished fly fisherman (the smallest eddy under an overhanging willow was no obstacle for him) and hunter (his many stories of hunting trips with his buddies John and Bernie are testament to his hunting skills, not to mention the years of moose and deer meat his family and friends enjoyed). His family shared his love of the outdoors with "never to be missed" summer holidays to Batanuni Lakes (west of Quesnel). In the early days it took three days on dirt roads to reach the destination; now it takes only hours.
Frank was also known to his many friends as "Mr. Fix It". There was nothing that would "stump" him. Whether it was a water system, furnace, automobile, lawn mower, or a child's bicycle, he always found a way to fix it. He had great pride in his ability to find water with a divining (witching) rod; hundreds of wells in many locations throughout BC were the result of this very unique talent.
Frank loved to tell stories of his early years in the Royal Canadian Air Force and then working on the steam ships, railroad, logging, and as a stationary engineer; he also built a house from the ground up. Every year he cultivated his very productive garden and preserved hundreds of jars of fruit and vegetables.
He is greatly missed by his family Margaret, Peggy, Frances (Jim Russell), Marsha (Curtis Nicholls), Keith (Jamie), grandchildren (Clayton, Justin, Katie, Amy, Rebecca, Jake and Koltin), brothers Charlie (Edie), Doug (Donna), lifelong friend John Nicholson and his daughter Deana, and many close friends and neighbours who were always welcome for a cup of coffee and a chat.
His family would like to thank Dr. Scott Montgomery for many years of outstanding care.
Condolences may be sent to Lasser Family, 1963 West 35th Ave., Vancouver, BC, V6M 1H8.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Wildlife Federation, 101 - 3060 Norland Avenue, Burnaby, BC, V5B 3A6 in memory of Frank.
