Joseph Mott

MOTT, JOSEPH - Joseph Clarence Mott, loving husband of Joy (Gallant) Mott, occurred peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born 1943 in Saint John he was the son of the late Clarence Nelson and Maude (McCormack) Mott. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his infant sister Mary Mott. Joe worked as a Stationary Engineer at Irving Paper for 30 years, retiring in 2001. He was a current Saint John City Councillor; he was an avid sports fan, enjoying horse racing, basketball and especially baseball, where he coached three Little League Canadian Championships. Joe was a Past President of Horseman’s Association, Past President of the Irving Retirees Association; Past President of the East Saint John PC Party. He was a member of the Commercial Travelers, Boys and Girls Club, Nubody’s, and was a tour guide with Aquila. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his loving wife Joy of 45 years, he is survived by his children Daniel Mott of Saint John and Kimberly McGrath (Darryl) of Quispamsis; cherished grandchildren Evan and Megan; sister Helen Mott of Saint John; brother James Mott (Paulette) of Quispamsis; nieces Jessica and Jennifer; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday, April 25th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 26th at 12 noon.
