Date de décès : 17 décembre 2009
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Elizabeth Roach on Dec. 17, 2009.
Born in Louisbourg, Dec. 28, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William Duncan and Laura (Loll) (Ratchford) McMullin.
Marie worked at the Bank of Montreal for 20 years, 1942-1962.
Her whole life was dedicated to her family and her home and she maintained all of it with faith, love and a great understanding of other’s needs which always came before her own. She was innocent and pure at heart and loved people. Our mother was a truly precious gift to all who knew her. She loved and was loved deeply.
She is survived by her husband, Henry J. Roach; daughter, Linda, at home; sons, Billy (Dorothy), at home, Ron (Goretti), Rankin Inlet, Bill McMullin (Cheryl McLeod), Bedford. She is also survived by her sisters, Olive MacKinnon (Leonard), Anna Gallant (Russell ‘Dukie’) and a brother, Tom McMullin (Jeanette); grandchildren, Laura, Justin, Mitchell, Amanda, Jody, Tracy, Jamie, Tanya and Samantha and several great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Vincent, John, Sandy and Clare and one sister, Sr. Doris.
Marie was a person of strong faith and that faith sustained her through many of life’s trials and tribulations. That faith also helped her family to find comfort during her recent illness.
Marie was a member of St. Theresa’s parish and up until her illness, regularly attended mass.
Marie was a devoted mother and grandmother and her family came first and foremost after her faith. She very much enjoyed time spent at Tim Hortons with special friends and acquaintances over coffee and muffins.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney, 539-3002. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Church.
