SEMCHUK – Sophie (nee Bohach) of Prince Albert passed away very peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 with family by her side. Sophie was born December 27, 1927 in Denysiw, Western Ukraine. Sophie moved to Canada along with her family on June 21, 1931. Mom will be lovingly remembered for her integrity, kindness and thoughtfulness of others. She will be fondly remembered as being the pillar of our family. She would always give consideration of what needed to be done, always using good common sense. Mom was a lady who would not waste a thing. When unexpected company would arrive, she could make an amazingly delicious meal out of what she had available to her, whether it was fresh vegetables out of the garden or special preserves she had tucked away in “Baba’s storeâ€, as was fondly remembered by her grandchildren. Mom had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to laugh. She would often tell a funny story or a good joke, which entertained her family and friends. Sohie will be lovingly remembered by her children Merviana (Taras) Tkachuk and their sons Trent and Tracy (Brenda) and their daughter Prairie; Harold and his sons Bohdan and Greg (Tonya) and their sons Gabriel and Jasper; Murray (Diane) and their son Trevor; Sonya (Gordon) Jahn and their children Melissa and Carson. Sophie is also survived by her sister Susie (Edmund) Dawiskiba and her brother Bohdan (Katie) Bohach. She was predeceased by her husband Steve; her parents Hrehorey (Harry) and Evdokia (Eva) Bohach; and her sister Mary Kosowan. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, with Pastor Dennis Serfas, Director Spiritual Care, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region and Avonda McKay officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Mont St. Joseph Foundation, 777 – 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 8C2. Heartfelt thanks to the Mont St. Joseph staff for their kindness, care and compassion during Mom’s stay. Thank you to all who visited Mom while she resided at Mont St. Joseph, especially the little children – you were a ray of sunshine in her day, as Mom loved children.
