In Loving Memory of Oddny Eirika Duncan Oddny Eirika Duncan (Ricky) passed away peacefully at Kamloops Hospice Home on October 29, 2007 after a very brief illness. Ricky was born in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan on March 29, 1929 and was one of five daughters born to Magnus & Jonina Bjarnason. After high school she moved to Winnipeg and graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. Ricky nursed in many communities, but the time she treasured the most was nursing her sister Vivian (Gogo) who had contracted polio. Her last nursing position was as Matron of the hospital in Carberry, Manitoba. Here she met the love of her life, Am Duncan. They made their home in Brandon Manitoba, and then moved to Kamloops in 1968. After the move to Kamloops, she devoted herself to her greatest joy - her family, her husband and her daughter Lisa. To her two grandchildren, Erika and Alex, of whom she was so proud, she was 'Amma' (the Icelandic name for grandmother). Her hobbies included cooking, baking, crosswords, knitting, line dancing and playing bridge. She was a very active member of her church, Mount Paul United Church. She was predeceased by her mother and father Magnus & Jonina Bjarnason, her husband Aylmer Alexander Duncan (Am) and her sister Vivian Sword. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa Tessier, her grandchildren Erika and Alex Tessier, and her sisters, Thelma Riglin, Beverly Scobie (Laurie), and Denise Parsons as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ricky's life will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 2:00 pm at the Mount Paul United Church. The family requests that any expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home or the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Ricky. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Justin Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services. 554-2324
