On Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 at 6:40 a.m., Mr. T. Edwin Orton passed away in the company of loved ones at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC at the age of 81 years after a hard fought 2 year battle with cancer.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Iris Orton, son, David Orton of Langley, BC, daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Claudio Rodrigues of Calgary, Alberta, four grandchildren, Stephenie, Jilaine, Alex, and Sydney, as well as his brother William Orton, brother-in-laws Chuck Calhoun and Bob Friberg, sisters, Isabel McChesney, Ruth Koster, and Irene Friberg and sister-in-law Gail Orton.
Edwin was predeceased by his father Fredrick Karr Orton, mother Ida Lucinda Orton (Heinrich), younger brothers Keith and Albert Orton, brother-in-laws, Bob McChesney, Len Koster, and Dan Cavani, sisters Louise Cavani and Loraine Calhoun and sister-in-law Bev Orton.
Edwin's whole world was his great love of family, love of church and an insatiable scientific mind. His quiet and unselfish charity was reflexive and hidden behind the more vocal love of debate and challenging accepted thought.
Mrs. Orton would like to express her sincere appreciation to the community care nurses who selflessly assisted her caring for Edwin at home, where he was most comfortable, during the last two years of his life, especially Gail and Carol. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Emergency Response Team who transported Edwin to RIH, and the doctor and two nurses who attended Edwin and the family during the last few hours of his life. Their compassion, sincerity and professionalism were nothing short of amazing and will never be forgotten. As British Columbian's we are proud to be served by the very best.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (1136 6th Ave., Kamloops, BC (250) 372-3540) at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 with the graveside service and refreshments to follow; with the Reverend Harold Wiest officiating.
