HAZEL AMIELIA MILLAR Oct. 22, 1915 - Nov. 2, 2007 We regret to announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Hazel Amielia Millar. Mom was born in Wapella, Sask., and moved out to B.C. at a very young age. She married the love of her life, Archie Millar, on Dec. 26th, 1941. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Gail (Bill) Friesen, of Tasmania, and 2 sons, Trevor of Vancouver, and Michael (Barb) of Calgary. She also leaves to mourn her passing, her granddaughter, Hermione (Matty) of Tasmania, and grandson, Ryan Millar of Calgary. Hazel is also survived by her sisters, Margaret McShane, Bernice James, and Pat (Des) Price and her brothers, Howard Baker, Tom (Sylvia) Baker, and Bob (Dianne) Baker. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her loving husband Archie (1912-1992) and by her parents, Edward and May Baker. Also predeceasing Hazel were her sisters, Eva Baker, Frances Assman and Ethel Stoodley; sister-in-law Agnes Baker; and brothers-in-law Bill James, Albert Assman, Bob McShane and Norman Stoodley. Mom and dad spent a lot of time in the retirement years traveling as snowbirds to the southern United States and Mexico and also to Eastern Canada, New Zealand and Europe. The high light of all their travels was visiting their daughter and family on their several visits to Australia.†Her children will cherish the memory of their last few yearly family holidays and in particular the cruise to Alaska with mom's sisters in 2004. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest and was happiest when she was with her large extended family and friends. She lived at the Cottonwood Manor for several years, and moved to The Renaissance earlier this year. Due to her failing health, she most recently lived at the Pine Grove Care Centre. Hazel was a dedicated Anglican Church member and in better health, enjoyed the services at St. George's Church. In the last few years Hazel used to enjoy playing bridge and other card games, with family and friends, but especially bridge with Linda and Richard Hamada and her sister Marg. We would like to thank all those who took care of mom, especially in the past couple of years. Thanks to caregiver Judy Spence, and to the staff of Renaissance, RIH, and Pine Grove Care Centre. We appreciate all that you did to make life more comfortable for mom. We would also like to thank all the relatives for their care and compassion in mom's final months, with a special acknowledgement and thanks to Linda Hamada and Susan Wilmot (Hazel's nieces) for their attentiveness to mom and for keeping us up to date on mom's condition. Funeral service is to be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Kamoops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, B.C. Cremation to follow. Flowers graciously declined, however, donations to RIH Foundation, 311 Columbia St., Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2T1 or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated, in memory of Hazel.
