It is with sorrow, we, the family of Agnes announce the passing of our sister and aunt. Agnes passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Celtic Court, Sydney.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Gertrude (MacKenzie) MacInnis of Donkin.
Agnes served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. After Agnes returned, she spent most of her working career in New York. She moved back to Cape Breton to care for her sister, Annie, in 1984. Agnes lived her life caring for others and expected nothing in return. She was a woman of great faith that saw her through much illness. She was an exceptional lady and will be missed by all.
Agnes will be sadly missed by sisters, Mary, Irene, Cecelia, brothers, Bernard, Paul and Pius.
Besides her parents, Agnes was predeceased by three sisters, and three brothers.
In honouring Agnes’ wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St,, Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22 in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment will be in St. Gregory’s Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Agnes’ memory may be made to a charity of choice.
