Lloyd MacLean

Lloyd George MacLean, 90, of Durham, passed away peacefully at home, May 1, 2012 with his wife of 68 years by his side.
Born in Baddeck, January 23, 1922, he was a son of the late George and Nettie (Dorcas) MacLean.
Besides his wife, Lois (McKean), Lloyd is survived by four sons: Robert (Janet), Donald (MaryBelle), Douglas (Carol) and Peter (Donna); nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Geddes, PEI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Mark MacLean; sister, Marjorie Wood and brother, Bernard MacLean.
Lloyd was a dairy farmer for most of his working life. He also established MacLean’s Strawberry U-Pick, one of the first U-Picks in the province. He was a past director of the Scotsburn Co-op and a member of the Durham Presbyterian Church. Lloyd loved the outdoors and one of his great pleasures was working at his maple syrup camp on Dalhousie Mountain.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday from Durham Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Durham Presbyterian Church or the Palliative Care Society.
