The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, of Ernest Birch Ramsay, affectionately known as "POP" of Miscouche, and formally of Conway, aged 89 years. Ernest was born in Northam on Sept. 24, 1918, to his late parents Russell and Devona (nee Birch) Ramsay. Husband of Bernice (nee Milligan) Ramsay and loving father of Nancy (Jimmy) Keough of Linkletter, Bill (Emilia), Sandra (Murray) Westgard, and Robert, all of Red Deer Alta., Ronald of Enmore and Edna (Ted) MacLeod of Tidnish, N.S. Also lovingly remembered by his 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by his sisters: Rita Dyment of Summerside and Kathleen MacLean of N.S. Besides his parents, Ernest was predeceased by his sisters: Edna, Maude and infant sister Berdie, and by his brothers: Ray, Alger and George. Also predeceased by his grandson Jacob MacLeod and by his daughter-in-law Sandra Ramsay. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to take place in the Tyne Valley Presbyterian Cemetery at a later date.
