DIONNE, GERARD R. - 1927 - 2012 - Gerard Dionne of Foyer Saint-Antoine, passed away peacefully at the Foyer on Wednesday, May 2th, 2012, at the age of 85. Born in Notre-Dame on March 13, 1927 he was the son of the late Alfred and the late Amanda (Bastarache) Dionne. Prior to his retirement Gerard was employed as janitor for the School District No 1, he was very good with children and they loved him. He was an avid hunter and woodsman, he loved being in the woods and feeding the birds. He also loved to sing and play music with his friends. He will be sadly missed by his three sisters; Jeannette Léger (Raymond) of North Grafton, Ma, Viola Cormier (Raymond) of Waltham, Ma, Alfreda Despres (Bertin) of Cocagne, his five brothers; Yvon (Louise) of Hartford, CT, Alyre (late Alice) of Pawtucket RI, Léonard (Linda) of Sanford, Me, Normand of St-Petersburg Fl and Bernard (Eveline) of Notre-Dame, and several nieces and nephews. Gerard was predeceased by a sister Anita at a young age and his step-mother Evangéline (Cormier) Dionne.
Visitations will be held at the Notre-Dame du Sacré Coeur Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Notre-Dame on Friday, May 4th, 2012 from 7 to 9pm and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45am. Funeral Mass will be held at the Notre-Dame Church on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 at 11:00am, with Rev Yvon LeBlanc officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in the church basement after the service. Donations in Gérard's memory can be made to the donor's choice of charities.
