IN LOVING MEMORY OF LOWELL PERCY MACDONALD It is with great sadness and loss that the family of Lowell Percy MacDonald announces his sudden passing on November 22, 2007. Lowell was born in Woodside, Nova Scotia, September 2, 1934. As a child, Lowell traveled across Canada twice with his family before they settled in Bowden, Alberta. As a young man while working in Fairview, Alberta, he was introduced to his friend's sister, Lorraine Friedel, who later became his wife. Lowell was a construction worker and in 1965 he started working at the W.A.C. Bennett Dam and moved his young family to B.C. Two years later, they left Hudson's Hope looking for better weather. Finding the coast too rainy, they planned on heading to the Okanagan but found sunshine in Kamloops and stayed. Lowell was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 115 for 41 years. He worked on various construction jobs including the Coquihalla Highway. After retiring from construction work, Lowell went on to own and operate his own taxi. Lowell enjoyed exploring the countryside and many a weekend, the family would pack a picnic and head off down the back country roads. During winter he would always find some great place for a winter wiener roast and tobogganing. Even his health problems did not slow him down. He was always out and about on his scooter, heading downtown for coffee with friends or over to the northside to visit and look around. Lowell was well known for his generous nature, helping out friends and family anyway he could. Lowell is survived by his children Corrinna (Barry) and Mona. His brother Malcolm (Josephine), sister Helen and numerous nieces and nephews. Lowell is predeceased by his wife Lorraine, son Lowell, parents Rob and Edna and brother James. The family would like to thank Al Workintine, Lowell's best friend. Al was always there to help out in any way he could. As Lowell's health was failing, Al was always one step ahead in thinking of ways to help his friend. The family would also like to thank Kamloops Hospice for making Lowell comfortable in his last hours. In accordance with Lowell's wishes there will be no service. The family requests that any expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Cres. S., Kamloops, B.C. V2E 2S9
