Rosalind Wilson
Rosalind Lina Wilson
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Rosalind Lina Wilson, 83 years, at the Valley View Villa, Riverton, on Saturday, May 12, 2012, with family by her side. She was born in Salem, Pictou County, on August 9, 1928, to parents Arthur and Florence Cluney. At the age of 8 years, she went to live with her foster parents, Henry and Esther MacInnis of Brookville, where she lived until she was married. She attended the Brookville School. In 1950, she married Leonard Wilson of Saskatchewan. Following their marriage they moved to Newtown, Guysborough County, where they raised their family of four children. Rosalind or ”Rosie” as she was fondly called was a stay at home mother while her husband, Leonard, worked in local sawmills and ran a small mechanical repair and tv repair shop from his home.
Rosie and Leonard lived in Newtown, until Leonard’s death in 1977. Shortly thereafter Rosie moved to Stellarton where she has resided since then.
Rosie was a quiet person who found pleasure in the simple things of life – spending time with her family, swinging on her swing, a walk outdoors, birds and flowers and a good hamburger with a hot cup of tea. She was a lover of animals of all kind, especially cats. She had an extraordinary green thumb and had the most beautiful indoor plants. While living in Newtown she enjoyed participating in the Rural Beautification Contests where she could display her plants and flowers. She loved to decorate her home and change the wallpaper and curtains. She was a meticulous housekeeper. She loved to cook and bake and loved to receive and read a new recipe book.
She was a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church in MacLellan’s Mountain and an adherent of the Zion Presbyterian Church, East River St. Mary’s. She had a strong but quiet faith in the Lord and she enjoyed reading her Bible and watching religious programs on TV. She was a faithful supporter of her favourite charities: The Bible Society, The Cancer Society, Foster Parents Plan and World Vision.
Rosie is survived by her children: James (Marlene) of Kelvington, Saskatchewan; John, West Branch; Stanley (Christie), Sunny Brae and Marilyn of Westville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Shawn, Matthew, Suzanne, Elizabeth, Dale, Renee and Nicole and great grandchildren Caleb, Claire, Ella, Zoe, Rosie, Jack, Gabriel and James. As well she is survived by a brother, Lawrence Cluney, Linacy and a sister, Catherine Prichard, Fredericton.
Rosie was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; birth parents and foster parents; brother John and sisters Margaret and Mabel.
Her Remains will rest at the H. W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 7 to 9 pm and from 1pm until the time of service at 2pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gail Johnson- Murdock and Pat Wilson presiding. A reception with family and friends will be held at the funeral home immediately after the funeral service. Burial will take place following the reception in the Valley View Cemetery; East River St Mary’s .
Donations in Rosie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Pictou County SPCA or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the VON of Pictou County who gave Rosalind exceptional homecare. This thanks is also extended to the kind and caring staff of the Valley View Villa.
