It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Buckley on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at home.
She was born in Reserve Mines, the daughter of the late James and Agnes (Nan) Dawson.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Monica (Harvey) Kelloway and Glenda Buckley. She was a loving grandmother to Deneca (Mike) Mombourquette, Craig Kelloway and Sean (Lauren) Kelloway. A proud granny to Keara and Kayla Mombourquette and Avery Kelloway. Betty is also survived by her brother, Jimmy (Velma) Dawson; her sister, Dorothy (Frank) Caume; sister-in-law, Shirley Dawson and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, brothers, Billy, Bruce and Jack, sisters, Mary and Margaret.
Betty enjoyed her bingo, reading, dancing, crossword puzzles, baking, her beloved Blue Jays and mostly fun and laughter with her family and friends.
As per Betty’s wishes, a graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens with Martha MacDonald officiating. Following the interment a luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Gordon United Church, Reserve Mines.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay.
