It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elma Kathleen (Morrison) Garland 83, who died peacefully at home on May 16, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Born in Mira, N.S., Elma was the daughter of the late Hugh and Nellie (Morrison) Morrison. Elma was an adherent of Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck.
Elma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was well known for her love of animals, especially her horses.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 61 years Donald Garland, her four daughters, Lynn, Velda (Eugene), Scarina and Verne. Her sister, Ena MacLean (Whycocomagh); grandchildren, Selwyn, Margaret Ann, Shawn, Dereck and Victoria, Katelyn, Scott and her great-grandchildren, Jamee, MacKenzie, Breton, Logyn and Jack.
Besides her parents Elma was predeceased by her twin sister, Elda; sister, Jessie MacKinnon, Florence Kennedy and brothers, Murdock Morrison and Arthur Poushay.
There will be no visitation, Cremation has taken place. Funeral will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 with Rev. Louis Ihasz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery, Baddeck Forks.
