GORDON VICTOR LEROY WELLS

Lieu de naissance : Fort Langley, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de naissance : 27 juillet 1940

Lieu de décès : Kamloops, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de décès : 15 mai 2012

Mr. Gordon Victor LeRoy Wells passed away at home after a short courageous battle with cancer, his faith, sense of humor and wit sustaining himself and others to the end.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rosalie, daughter Julie of Vancouver, Vincent of Kamloops; sister Bernice of Nampa, Idaho, many loving relatives and friends.

Born in Fort Langley, B.C., LeRoy's childhood was cut short when at the age of 15 he had to work full time to support himself, working at National Paper Box Factory in Vancouver and for the CNR. LeRoy is a graduate of the prestigious Business School at St. Ann's Academy under Sister Mary Artemia. In the early years of his marriage he completed his Grade 12 and is a charter member of Caribou College. From there he pursued his studies towards obtaining a Certified General Account Certificate. His accounting skills landed him work with Fadear Creek Lumber, Noca Dairy and Dairyland in Burnaby. Throughout his life LeRoy was a person of service in his involvement with the Jaycees, Kinsmen, Knights of Columbus, Cursillo and in recent years found his niche in The Saint Vincent de Paul Society. It was though this organization that he made many friends across Canada and here in Kamloops, with the less fortunate. Until his illness he was dedicated to the "Out of the Cold" Shelter program. LeRoy took scripture to heart and more than once came home minus his winter coat or gloves. At one time he even parted with a new pair of his winter boots.

LeRoy's faith, sense of service, adventure and "out of the box" thinking, let him to a deeper commitment to the church. In 1989 he and Rosalie moved into the residence at Holy Family Parish, Kamloops and were pastoral ministers for four years. From there it was off to the Yukon for a two year volunteer experience with the RC diocese of the Yukon. He then continued as the Office Manager at Our Lady or Perpetual Help Church, also co-ordinating the use of the Parish Centre.

Special thanks to Dr. Stefanyk and Sandy, Dr. Proctor, Pratts Pharmacy, the ambulance attendants and Bob Edwards for their compassion and care and to so many others too numerous to mention.
