Viola Boudreau, age 93 of Kings Road, Dominion, passed away on Friday, May 18th, 2012 at her home.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Vince and Hanna (Ellsworth) Rigby.
Viola had a strong faith in her religion and was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church. When she was unable to go to church, she would always watch mass daily on Vision T.V.
Viola enjoyed baking, playing bingo, tarabish, petting and grooming her cat Sookie and playing crazy 8’s with her great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and will be remembered as a very kind hearted lady who displayed great compassion for those less fortunate. At one time Viola was employed at the General Instrument Company.
Viola is survived by two daughters, Margie (John) King, Dominion, Diane (Jack) Anderson, New York; three sons, Gerard (Valerie), with whom she resided, Russell (Rita), both in Dominion, Jimmy (Gloria), Ontario, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and her special friend Pauline McDonald.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred; a son, George ‘GG’; a daughter, Joanne; three brothers, Alex, Clarence, Billy and three sisters, Agnes, Mary, Myrtle.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4, 7- p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Daniel Boudreau is Monday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. All are invited to join the family for a reception in the parish hall.
As an expression of sympathy for Viola, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
