LEBANO On Wednesday, January 9, 2008 Mr. John Anthony Lebano of Kamloops passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shanno, his sister in law Charmaine Dewar of Chatham, Ontario and several cousins in Montreal and California and special friends that were made throughout his postings. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and James Lebano. John was born on January 21, 1937 in Cornwall, Ontario. He was a dedicated member of the RCMP for 31 years serving in Ontario, Headquarters Ottawa and B.C. After retirement, John drove the school bus for District 73, thoroughly enjoying the challenge. He was an avid reader and enjoyed the game of golf. Prayers will be recited on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Reverend Father Derrick Cameron will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sage Valley Mausoleum. Should friends desire expressions of sympathy may be made to the Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S, Kamloops, B.C. V2E 2S9 in memory of John.
