Kenneth Harold James Edwardsen

Ken passed away at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer on May 20th 2012 at Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was born on the farm west of Crystal Springs, SK to Olaf and Helga Edwardson. He attended Trembley school finishing his education at Dixon Lake High School.

He moved to Vancouver in 1955 where he began a career in reinforcing ironwork. He was transferred to Saskatoon in 1966 to manage jobs in the three prairie provinces. He purchased farmland west of Crystal Springs in 1971 and while farming started his own company, Northern Reinforcing.

He was an active leader in the community. His favorite pastimes included fishing, camping, curling, hockey, playing and coaching ball. He retired in 1999 and enjoyed traveling south in the winter and fishing in the summer.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Estelle, children Richard (Sheila) Edwardsen, Cheryl (Doug) Konno, Barb (Phillip) Smith, Sharon (David) Chyz, Kathy (Cindy) Edwardsen, Terri (Hugh) Garven as well as 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

The Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Domremy, with Rev. Fr. Greg Elder officiating. Interment of the urn will follow in the Crystal Springs Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ken may be directed to the Crystal Springs Roman Catholic Cemetery or The Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw. 233-4403
