Penny Farnsworth

Lieu de naissance : Colombie Britannique, Canada

Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada

In Loving Memory of Penny Farnsworth Wednesday 13 February 1924 - Monday 14 January 2008 We are blessed to release Penny Farnsworth into the Lord's care. Penny was a wonderful and truly remarkable woman. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister and friend. Penny was born Velma Unverricht, in Grenfell Saskatchewan in 1924. The second youngest of seven children, she shared her childhood with her best friend and little sister, Freddie. She was raised in this small farming community until striking out on her own, moving to Toronto in 1949. Penny met her lifelong companion Gerry, while living in Toronto. They moved to Kamloops, after marrying in Grenfell in 1951. Penny was the glue that held her growing family together as Gerry was frequently away, spear-heading the growth of naturopathic medicine in the Pacific Northwest. She raised five children and was unfailingly present when her family needed her strength and support. She lived for and loved deeply her kids and grandchildren. Penny was renowned for her seamstress abilities, cultured gardens, sense of humour, family photo albums, gourmet cooking, and her flair for "Christmas magic", entertaining and decorating. She loved to travel and she and Gerry enjoyed exploring B.C. and the North while camping, with more expansive trips to Australia, Mexico and the Caribbean. †Penny was tirelessly devoted to her church and faith, participating generously in The Good Shepherd's congregation and choir and later was instrumental in the formation of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Valleyview. She was involved in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and in the regional affairs of the Lutheran Church of Canada. Penny was a brave woman who faced the ravages of Alzheimers disease courageously. Above all though, she will be remembered for her love of family, her commitment to cause and her dignity. She has been missed for a long while and will be missed forever. Penny is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Gerald Farnsworth, daughters; Karen and Tana, sons; Cam (Marie), Tim (Debra) and Todd (Janet), grandchildren Colin, Becky, Matthew, Taylor, Adam, Braydon, Hunter, Mikaela and Easton and great-grandson Kaiden. She also leaves to cherish her memory brother Ralph (Lavone), Sister Freddie (Bill), special sister-in-law Marjorie and many loved nieces and nephews. Penny was predeceased by both parents, brother Gibb, sisters Corda, Lee and Paula, son-in-law Wayne and grand-dog, Alex. Special thanks to the wonderful people at Overlander Extended Care, with particular acknowledgements to, Cindy, Dana, Eleanor, Lara, the Margarets and Ladele. A celebration of Penny's life will be held Saturday, 19 January at 2:00 pm, at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2481 Sunset Drive, Kamloops. The family wishes that any expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Canadian Naturopathic Foundation at 1255 Sheppard Ave. East, North York, Ont M2K 1E2 (www.cand.ca). You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's memorial register at: www.personalalternative.com Good-bye to my absent companion. Love, Gerry Personal Alternative Funeral Services 554-2324.
