KUROMI Takehiko Peter Kuromi of Kamloops passed away in the Royal Inland Hospital on January 18, 2008 at 95 years of age. He is survived by his children, Ruth of Kamloops, Mark (Wendy) of Midway, BC, Luke of Jasper, Alberta, Donna of Kamloops, Richard (Shirley) of Kamloops and Janet (Floyd) Martin of Youbou, BC; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Miki in December 2006, son in-law Brian Coldwell in October 2005, father Muneyoshi, mother Sekino, and two brothers, Ryuyi and Toshikatsu. Takehiko was born on March 17, 1912 in Tottori-ken, Japan and immigrated to Canada in 1928. He married Miki in Vancouver on November 25, 1940. He was taken as a prisoner of war during WWII and sent to Angler, Ontario for the duration of the war. After the war ended, he was shipped to Iron Springs, Alberta and returned to BC in 1950. After retiring from Weyerhaeuser in 1977, he worked for the Kamloops Curling Club as an Iceman. His summers were spent tending to his huge garden. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Ron Oyler and the nursing staff on 3 West for their kindness, patience and care. Graveside service to be held at a later date.
