HUGHES, CAROL ELAINE - With her family at her side, Carol (Lewis) Hughes, age 73, loving wife of Reg Hughes, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Born in Juniper, NB., she was the daughter of the late Bill and Mary (Stone) Lewis. Carol loved to play bingo at St. Joachim’s Church and was always on the go. She played ball in her younger days and enjoyed being outside in the garden or watching her birds in the backyard. She had a wonderful circle of friends that she enjoyed spending time with and was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.Along with her husband Reg, Carol is survived by her sons Stephen (Lynda) Hughes and Leonard Hughes; daughters Karen Hughes and Pamela Hughes; brother Greg (Debbie) Lewis); sisters Phyllis Kinney, Shirley Young, Barb (Allison) Brown, Joanne (Clayton) Brown, and Janice (David) Crabbe; grandchildren Mark, Cliff (Tasha) Kim, Jonathan, Carrie and Josh; as well as, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Carol was also predeceased by sons Donald and Michael, grandson Richard, brothers Donald and Paul; and sister Marjorie Elliott
Arrangements under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB., (646-2424) with visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, followed immediately by a reception at the funeral home.
