DONNAHEE, ROBERT - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished father and grandfather, Robert Donnahee, 87, of Moncton who passed away on Thursday May 24, 2012 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Beaverbank, N.S., on December 22, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Annie (Mellish) Donnahee. Robert was a retired heavy equipment repair mechanic. He was employed for over 30 years at DND #5 Supply Depot, Moncton. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6. He was a World War II veteran, having served overseas. Our Dad and Grampy was a kind, generous and honest man, who loved spending time with his family and friends, loved music and playing the guitar, enjoyed the outdoors and had a special place in his heart for all his canine friends. Robert was the loving father of Mary LeBlanc (Albert) of Notre Dame, Lynn Burdock (Bruce) of Riverview, Charles (Caroline) of Irishtown and John (Wendy) of Dundas; cherished grandfather of Christopher, Carrie, Colleen, Cory, Cassandra, Catherine, Angela, Charlene, Launce and Justin; great-grandfather of Lilah, Grace Mary, Jack, Ayden, Aaron, Kiran, Luc, Julien, Kayleigh and Ella; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews; also remembered by many cherished friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary McDermott (2007); his sister, Jean, his brothers: Tim, Dave and Johnny; his half-sister, Mary; his half-brother, Harry; his beloved grandsons: Colin Donnahee and Matthew LeBlanc.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday May 25, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 150 Masters Road, Moncton, on Saturday May 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton. Veterans of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In Robert’s memory, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6, K.E.
