It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ella Shumay (Harding) on her 86th birthday - December 22, 2009 at Providence Place while surrounded by family love. Ella was born to Fred and Rose Harding and grew up on the family farm near Melaval Sask. After completing school, she enlisted in the army during W.W. II and served her country as a Driver operating jeeps and trucks thus acquiring the nick name “Jeepyâ€. Ella was predeceased by her parents Fred and Rose Harding; her husband Steve Shumay; three brothers Earl, John and Morris Harding; two sisters Marj Mehain and Rita Matheson along with brothers in law John Hoskins, Jack Mehain, Duncan Matheson; Steve’s parent; his brother Peter and his sister Mary. Ella leaves behind to love and remember her always, her sons Rod (Barb) Yates, Doug (Bev) Yates and daughter Georgina Yates. Her Grandchildren Todd (Terri) Yates, Traci (Carlo) Yates-Berardi, Tyler (Gina) Yates; her great grandchildren Kristopher Yates (Mandi) and Jocelyn Yates, Jacie and Brett Yates, Zachary and Arianna Berardi and Finnegan Yates; as well as her great- great grand daughter Hailey Yates. Also surviving her is her sister Elsie Hoskins, her brothers Ronald (Millie) Harding, Dennis (Evelyn) Harding and sisters-in law Shirley Harding, Lois Harding and Rollie Free as well as Steve’s brothers Bill (Liz) Shumay, Paul Shumay and Dan (May) Shumay. Numerous nieces and nephews and their families also survive her. Ella was a loving and caring mom and “Nanny†and will be forever missed and remembered by her family.The family wishes to offer their thanks and gratitude for all the tender loving care provided to Ella during her stay at Providence Place. At Ella’s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers and for those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Parkview Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw, Sask.
