Mayme Marie Eckhardt, 88, St. Ann’s. Born March 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Katie (MacAskill) Carmichael.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Bay United Church, Indian Brook, N.S. Mayme grew up in St. Ann’s, moving to Montreal in 1946. She and Douglas Eckhardt married in 1950. Mayme worked at T. Eaton Co. until her retirement. In 1989 she and Doug returned to St. Ann’s. Mayme loved to work in her flower garden. Her family, friends and neighbours were very dear to her heart.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Douglas Eckhardt; two brothers, A.J. (Murdena) Carmichael, St. Ann’s and Norman (Pearl) Carmichael, Halifax; one sister, Anna (Allister) MacInnis, Breton Cove; one sister-in-law, Margaret Carmichael, St. Ann’s; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother Claude.
Visitation and funeral will be held at St. Ann’s Bay United Church, Indian Brook, N.S., Wednesday, Dec. 30 starting at 11 a.m. with visitation and funeral at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dianne Kempt officiating. Burial will be in Goose Cove Cemetery.
Family flowers only by request, donations may be made to St. Ann’s bay United Church Building Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the MacAskill Funeral Home Baddeck.
