The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Monday, December 28, 2009 of Layton Joseph Green of Albany, veteran of Second World War, age 92.
Born in Bedeque, he was the son of the late Arthur and Laura (Noonan) Green. Predeceased by his wife Helena (nee Keough). Father of Allison (Judi), Summerside, Sandra (Michael) Foran, Ottawa, Paula (Elmer) Smith, Kinkora and Joanne Campbell, Albany. Loving grandfather of Geoffery (Jayne) and Janna Green, Nancy (Eric), Karen (Tom) and Andrea Foran, Coleen (Terry), Patricia (Craig), Suzanne and Patrick (Ainsley) Smith and Rodney and Jennifer Croken. Great-grandfather of William, Alexander, Joe and Ellie. Brother of Olga, Betty (Ernie), John Eldon (Mary), Ralph (Doreen), Peggy (William), Helen (Larry), Marshall (Karen), Joyce and Pauline (Johnny). Brother-in-law of Kay Kenny and Jean Keough. Predeceased by infant grandchildren, Jean Foran and Jason Croken; a brother, Kenneth; and brothers and sister-in-law, Mack Hallmack, Elgin Veno and Daniel and Laura Keough.
Resting at the Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora, until Thursday, December 31, then to St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay, for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Peter’s Church Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Members of the Knights of Columbus will have a prayer service at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 30, at 6:30 p.m. Comrades of the Borden Legion will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 30, at 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Prince County Hospital palliative care unit or St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund would be appreciated.
