Gordon Johnson
JOHNSON, GORDON - The death of Gordon Leslie Johnson, loving husband of Winifred (Willis) Johnson, occurred on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing. Born 1918 in Saint John West, he was the son of the late Morris and Effie (Browne) Johnson. He was employed as a Commercial Sales Representative for 37 years with Canadian Canners-Delmonte and Nabisco, retiring in 1983. He was a Charter member of the United Commercial Travellers, a member of NB Lodge No. 1, Knights of Pythias, Kiwanis Golden K Club, Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club, Carleton Curling Club, Seaside Lawn Bowling Club and Simonds Lion’s Senior Citizens Club. He was a member of the Park Avenue United Church. He served 5 years overseas with the Canadian Army in WWII. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 53 Jervis Bay. Surviving besides his wife Winifred, is his daughter Susan MacKenzie (Terrence) and his son Gary Johnson (Linda), four grandsons Ian Johnson (Stacey), Jason Johnson (Angela), Ryan MacKenzie (Miranda), Matthew MacKenzie and Katelyn MacKenzie; great grandchildren Liam, Dillan and Rissa. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Dorothy MacNeill.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (6462424) with visitations on Thursday, May 31st from 7 to 9 p.m. A tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 1st at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
