ATWOOD (Luce), Doris Elizabeth - 86, Berwick West, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bathurst, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Vienneau) Luce. Doris had worked at Windsor Wear and Haliburton House, Windsor and later at M.W. Graves Ltd., Berwick. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her sons, Gordon (Sandra), Berwick West; James “Babe” (Ellen), Brampton, Ont.; daughter, Kathleen (Wayne) Best, One Hundred Mile House, B.C.; grandchildren, Debbie Weihers, Gordie Atwood, Greg Best, Wayne, Adam and Donnie Atwood; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Gordon Luce, Bathurst, N.B.; Clarence Luce, Whitby, Ont; sister, Muriel (William) Gallagher, Bathurst, N.B.; sister-in-law, Pat Luce, Whitby, Ont; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, James E. “Jim” Atwood; grandchildren, Alison Best and David Atwood; brother, Earl Luce; sisters, Eunice (Phelton) Atwood; Isabel (Randolph) Theriault. Arrangements were entrusted to Bryce Johnstone of DeMont Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service (902-538-8317). There was no visitation. Funeral service took place at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3, in the Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Marilyn Rose officiated, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery.
