Charlotte Steeves

STEEVES, CHARLOTTE - The death of Charlotte Sarah Victoria Steeves, formerly of Elgin, beloved wife of the late Lee Steeves, occurred at The Jordan Life Care Centre on Thursday, May 31st 2012. Born in Portage Vale on June 14th, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Rose (Merry) Teakles. She leaves behind her daughter, Carol (Gerry) Alward of Petitcodiac, Thomas of Salisbury, Russell of Riverview and Robert (Anne) of Moncton. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Benjie Alward, Holly Steeves, Amanda Steeves and Zachary Steeves. She is survived by four siblings, Dorothy Collrin of Yarmouth, Laura Wyse of Petitcodiac, Alice (Delbert) Bannister of Sussex and Kenneth Teakles of Moncton. She was a member of the First Elgin Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Elgin WMS. Charlotte absolutely adored her family and friends. In her younger years, Charlotte was not only a home maker but an inspiration to all those who surrounded her. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, preparing preserves and Sunday drives to the Fundy National Park but most of all her family was and always has been her primary concern. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends was not only an enriching experience for her but also for all the lives she had touched. She was a gentle loving soul who could make your day better just by being in her presence, she was never down, and she always smiled and made the best of what life had given her. Her sense of humour was truly inspiring and she made all those around her laugh even at the worst times. In her older years she especially enjoyed caring for her grandson, Benjie Alward, as they both lived in the Jordan Life Care Centre. Charlotte was not only able to make the time they spent there together an enjoyable peaceful experience ,as she would constantly dote over her grandson, but she actually enriched Benjie’s life in ways that we can never truly understand or appreciate.
The family would like to give thanks to the Jordan Life Care workers as well as Doctor Morton for his services as her attending physician. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 6 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Pastor James Hammond and Pastor David Hawkesworth presiding. Interment will be held in the New Elgin Cemetery. For those who wish, donations can be made to The Jordan Life Care Centre or donor’s choice.
